| If you took the time to find an image as beautiful as this one for your business, wouldn't you want it to remain in view at all times? If the text scrolls while the image does not, you can do just that. | ||
| Where You Can Find Images | ||
| There are numerous places to obtain images: | ||
| • | Professional photographers can take the picture you want. Ask around for references or check out websites to find one that specializes in the look you're after. Any good photographer can take any kind of picture, but they all have their preferences and that can influence the quality of the image. You will pay for their time and expertise, but what you get back will be exactly what you need. | |
| • | Research images on photo services. Websites such as Dreamstime, iStock, Fotosearch, Getty Images, Black Star, and more sites than you can search in a year offer images for every kind of application and from artists all over the world. You will pay not much to a lot. Make sure you get the contract on the image for what you need. Images used in promotional printed campaigns often require a different contract than images used on the web. | |
| • | Take the images yourself. Be realistic about your abilities and your equipment. And about your time. Traveling all the way to France to snap a picture of Giverny on your cell phone will leave you disappointed with the results and the cost. There are numerous beautiful images in photo services taken by professional photographers that you can purchase for a fraction of the cost of just the plane ticket. But if you're good and the image is close by, snap away. I've received excellent images taken by site owners. | |
| If the Image is Almost What You Had in Mind | ||
| If you take an image that is fantastic but just happens to have a figure in it that you don't want there or the perspective seems off, don't give up. With Photoshop it is possible to remove figures and fix perspective. Photoshop can do a lot of other stuff besides to fix pictures that are almost there. Ask an artist what they can do with the image. You may be pleasantly surprised. | ||

| If you have a lot of text, this kind of application works. If you have only three lines of text on the page, the design can be exactly the same, but the scrolling feature is superfluous. | ||
